Guerrilla Hashira

Kokoro Kinbaku - Shibari Artist

A curated collection of works by artist Beauregard Higgins' shibari alter ego, Kokoro Kinbaku.

The Guerrilla Hashira project is an observation at the intersection of architecture, decaying infrastructure, human nature and street art.

Guerrilla meaning irregular or unauthorized tactics and Hashira defined as a suspension to a vertical structure in Shibari.

Guerrilla Hashira will be a ongoing project with involving hard to access, high traffic, restricted or abandoned sites applying shibari suspension photography in a similar fashion to the heart and soul of graffiti and street art.

Kokoro Kinbaku is a professional rigger, or Bakushi, whose artistry lies in the deeply evocative practice of Shibari and Kinbaku. With a profound respect for the traditional aspects of this Japanese rope art, Kokoro transforms each session into a tapestry of connection, trust, and shared vulnerability. For him, rope is far more than knots and patterns—it is a medium for emotional healing, self-expression, and mutual discovery.

Kokoro Kinbaku - Shibari Artistry

Guided by the belief that every thread tells a story, Kokoro weaves more than just physical bonds; he fosters an environment of safety, respect, and emotional openness. His practice emphasizes the delicate balance between aesthetic beauty and the ever-present priority of consent and well-being. By inviting participants to explore their inner selves through the art of rope, Kokoro provides a space for introspection, growth, and the breaking down of barriers.

Rope, in Kokoro's hands, becomes a tool for transformative healing—a means to reconnect with the self and others on a deeply spiritual level. His sessions are infused with an appreciation for vulnerability, a celebration of human connection, and a dedication to the transformative power of trust.

Through years of introspection and dedication to his craft, Kokoro has found purpose and fulfillment in the intricate dance between rigger and rope partner. His work continues to inspire and empower, reminding all who engage with his art that the journey through rope is as much about emotional release and personal growth as it is about the artistry itself.
